Immediate Opening: Test Engineer

Spectrum Software Technology (SST) is currently seeking a Test and Evaluation (T&E) Engineer for its civil aviation programs. This position is located at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) adjacent to the Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey.


The successful candidate will perform the following tasks:

  •  Generation of requirements (in matrices or other formats) identifying operational and functional requirements;
  • Generation and review of test plans, test procedures, and test analysis;
  • Conducting or supporting dry-run tests and formal tests;  
  • Supporting FAA monitoring and witnessing of informal and formal test conduct and related activities;
  • Preparing or reviewing test reports;
  • Evaluating test results to verify or validate technical requirements;
  • Configuration management functions in accordance with approved FAA processes; 
  • Engineering/technical reviews, working groups, test events, and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs);
  • Preparation or review of test Program Trouble Reports (PTRs) and Discrepancy Reports (DRs);  
  • Engineering and test activities of first article units for associated projects;  
  • Reviewing, monitoring, and evaluating engineering and test documentation;
  • Supporting meetings involving inspections, and T&E audits (Physical Configuration Audit (PCA) and Functional Configuration audit (FCA) related to system implementation, configuration, or meetings related to systems;
  • Creation, maintenance, operation, and decommissioning of test beds. Test beds may be used for early prototype evaluations, proof of concept testing, validation of system requirements, or other uses;
  • Performing In-Service Review checklist activities;
  • Performance monitoring of FAA Systems; 
  • Participation in ISO 9001:2015 standard internal and external audits.


  • Bachelor’s degree (in computer science, information system, engineering, or related field is preferred) + minimum 2 yrs. related experience
  • Experience in reviewing vendor test plans and procedures, and writing Operational test procedures  
  • Experience in computer lab environment
  • Must be US Citizen or Green Card holder


  • Experience in Terminal ATC Automation systems 
  • Experience in resolving problems on NAS systems 
  • Experience in cloud, network technology
  • Knowledge of FAA Orders
  • Familiar with FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS)
  • Familiar with ISO 9001-2015 standard 
  • Familiar with the WJHTC T&E Quality Management System
