SST was awarded a contract by the Federal Aviation Administration

(April 16, 2012) SST was awarded a contract by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to provide human factors support of National Airspace System (NAS) concept evaluation, acquisition and operational assessment, human factors engineering, and human factor program management. SST will provide the support and services that are necessary to support human factors efforts for future NAS modernization.

With the expected growth in air traffic operations and aging infrastructure, the FAA has begun the task of transforming the NAS to meet the future demands expected between now and 2025. This effort is called the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen). NextGen proposes a multitude of new concepts, new systems, changes to existing systems, and other changes which can impact the end users. In order to maintain the safety and efficiency of the NAS, it is important that these concepts and system changes be evaluated for the user impact prior to implementation. SST team will assist the FAA to evaluate concepts, perform acquisition and operational assessments, conduct human engineering, and perform human factors program management to ensure that safety, performance, and efficiency objectives can be met.
