Human Factors Specialists-Healthcare

Spectrum Software Technology (SST) is currently seeking Human Factors Specialists with some experience in the Healthcare industry. Relevant subspecialties include Usability/User Experience, Workflow/Business Process Modeling, and Applied Cognitive Research. You will be involved with designing and evaluating Healthcare Information Systems, and Work Environments/Workflows for clinical health professionals and their staff, to improve healthcare delivery, patient and practitioner safety and satisfaction, and practitioner efficiency for civil agency programs.

These are part-time remote consulting openings. Must be able to work 30-40 hours per week. Must have availability between 8am-5pm EST. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will perform any or all of the following tasks:

· Provide Human Factors support across the product lifecycle including customer and user needs identification, development of user and workplace profiles and usage scenarios, task analysis, requirements specification, generation of design concepts (creation of prototypes and graphical user interfaces), usability testing, user error analysis, and post-launch outcomes analysis

· Plan, design, and execute usability evaluations, scenarios/use cases, and other user-centered research; contribute to design recommendations and improvements to the user experience

· Conduct data analysis for research and user experience studies, and partner closely with design and strategy personnel to synthesize findings into actionable design principles  

· Perform analytic techniques such as discrete event simulation and value stream mapping

· Additional tasks include standards development, in-house training, and popularizing of the HF role

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Graduate degree from an accredited university in psychology, human factors engineering, modeling and simulation, interaction design, or related field

· Human Factors or related experience demonstrating an understanding of, and proven record of success in, usability, user centered design, or business process modeling and re-engineering.

· US Citizen or Green Card holder

The ideal candidate will have many or most of the following.

· Domain experience: using, designing, and/or evaluating healthcare information systems including electronic health records (EHRs) and patient-centered healthcare delivery systems

· Experience working in both government and corporate consulting environments

· Knowledge and experience with usability and user-centered research/design techniques including:

· Summative and Formative usability testing

· User Experience analysis techniques and tools

· Analyzing and re-engineering clinical workflows

· Working to relevant usability testing standards such as International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9241 part 11

· Research Design and conduct: contextual inquiry, focus groups, interviews, cognitive walkthroughs and tabletops, part-task simulations

· Statistical analysis
