Spectrum Software Technology (SST) is currently seeking a Sr System Administrator for our civil aviation programs. The position requires a BS plus 10+ years of experience, or 17+ years of experience without a degree. Solid Linux experience is desired. The position is located at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s William J. Hughes Technical Center adjacent to the Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey. 3 days onsite/2 remote.
The System Administrator provides critical support for the FAA Transportation Flow Management System (TFMS) RHEL7 servers, Oracle RAC, NetApp, Oracle database, and the Oracle Web logic application in the GDIT lab center. Performs JAVA application upgrades and patching in an Oracle Weblogic environment. Supports FAA Transportation Flow Management System lab environments. Collaborates with the testers, network, application, and DBA teams
Responsibilities:- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
- Provide technical support to development staff
- Assist with the configuration and operation of client-based computer operating systems
- Provide hardware troubleshooting and maintenance
- Upgrade firmware when needed
- Assist with the support of COTS products
- Deployment of software
- Build custom images to conform to FAA security benchmarks
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and communicate with impacted constituencies
- Configure networking services and protocols
- Providing service and customer support during field visits
- Diagnosing errors or technical problems and determining proper solutions
- Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
- Documentation and reporting
- Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics + 10 yrs. related experience. Will substitute 7 additional years of experience for degree.
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with Linux (Red Hat 5 and above)
- Extensive knowledge working with HP Openview, VMWare, Rational software, Oracle, SQL, Unix, and Java
- Good working knowledge of networking concepts
- Experience working with HP, Dell and Cisco products
- Knowledge of system vulnerabilities
- Must have good communication skills Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work efficiently individually or in a team environment
- Must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder
